1. A song that wakes you up in the morning.
Orbital - "Halcyon + On + On"
It starts out quiet, gentle, and meditative - barely there - and slowly over the course of about six minutes revvs up to something energetic and blood-pumping. It gets me going without waking me up abruptly, which I absolutely loathe.
2. A song you loved in high school.
Poe - "Haunted"
Remember this one
onehitwnderbard? I had the biggest obsession with this song in high school. I don't know what it was. I used it in every soundtrack for every fic I wrote and even did a music video for it in Video Production class. (Wonder if I still have that tape anywhere...?)
3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.
Jeff & Mychael Danna - "The Blood of Cu Chulainn"
Okay, so it kind of depends on your definition of celebrity - but in my opinion Cu Chulainn's more than famous enough to qualify, and besides, out of 1,500 .mp3's it was the only track I had that met the requirement.
4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.
Revolting Cocks - "If Ya Want My Body"
This one was almost track 8, but in the end I had to go with "Cry Little Sister" there since I also adore the original. Besides, I don't know anyone's grandmother who wouldn't be mortified by this track!
5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.
Jane Siberry - "All The Candles In The World"
Okay, so I don't actually know for a fact that MTV would never play this song since it came off the soundtrack to Final Destination and if there was ever a cornier film more geared toward the MTV crowd, I don't know it. Nevertheless it's an absolutely gorgeous song and Jane will always have my heart for her contribution to the soundtrack of The Crow. Also, her album "When I Was A Boy" is brilliant.
6. A song with a title that ends in y.
Nirvana - "Something In The Way"
Having just watched Jarhead the other night, there was no contest for this one. Such an eerie, beautiful track.
7. A song that makes you crave something.
DJ Z-Trip featuring Chester Bennington - "Walking Dead"
I don't have a satisfactory explanation for this. Something about it just makes me itch to get the hell out and live.
8. A cover song that you think is better than the original.
Carfax Abbey - "Cry Little Sister"
As much as I utterly love the original version of this song, EVERYTHING improves with a gothic/industrial riff.
9. The original of #8.
Gerard McMann - "Cry Little Sister"
Theme song from The Lost Boys and forever one of my favorite songs of all time. No matter who's covering it.
10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.
t.A.T.u. - "All About Us"
I think it's the video as much as the song that made me choose this track, but it's the story of just about every femmeslash OTP in any fandom ever. And probably more'n a few het OTP's as well.
11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.
Tragedie - "Sexy Pour Moi"
Anyone who knows me knows I don't just mouth the lyrics to songs, I full-out belt along with anything I know the lyrics to. So I chose this track for a laugh because (obviously) it's not in English and I DON'T know the words... but I still mouth the lyrics anyway.
12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.
Jedi Mind Tricks - "Kublai Khan"
Seriously, how many DOOM references did we find in this song,
forgodestiny? Grim Reaper... Destroyer... Red Planet... plus the usual blood, death, guns, and God. For a song that had no relation whatsoever to the film it was oddly appropriate.
13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.
Static-X - "Cold"
One of my OMGVAMPIRETHEMESONGS. Which is mildly appropriate given that it's off the soundtrack to Queen of the Damned, but that isn't the point. Someday I WILL write a fic for this.
14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.
Razed In Black - "Oh My Goth!"
I want to see the look on a corporate exec's face when he hears this on his way in to work in the morning.
15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.
Backstreet Boys - "Larger Than Life (Extended Video Mix)"
They're m'boys, and they always will be. Period. Anyone with snide comments can stuff it.

Larger than life. Oh yes. That's a song you pump the volume to in the car. XD

And yes, mad love for Larger Than Life. I used to make up dance routines to it. So much fun.
